2000-2001 HIGHLIGHTS

Chamber Society of Lincoln Center

As Quartet-in-Residence of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, the Orion String Quartet performs three concerts, including an All-American program featuring works by John Corigliano, Wynton Marsalis and Peter Schickele for the Society's "Great Day in New York" series in January 2001.

Two World Premieres

Maintaining its close artistic relationship with pianist Peter Serkin, the Quartet is featured in Carnegie Hall's "Perspectives: Peter Serkin" series in March 2001, featuring world-premiere performances of piano quintets by Peter Lieberson and Alexander Goehr. Concerts and masterclasses are planned for a five-city tour with Mr. Serkin to Kansas City, Milwaukee, Ann Arbor, Washington's Kennedy Center and New York's Carnegie Hall.

Other Highlights

Pinchas Zukerman has invited the Quartet to Ottawa for five concerts, to include Ligeti's Ramifications and works by Mendelssohn, Barber, Corigliano, Kirchner, and Johnston. Additional highlights include two recitals at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston, as well as appearances in San Jose, Pittsburgh, Salt Lake City, and La Jolla. The group tours Europe in March, performing in Leipzig and London's Queen Elizabeth Hall, and at the invitation of Issac Stern, travels to Japan's Miyazaki Festival in May for a residency to include performances and masterclasses.
